The Story of Our Coffee Queen
Our story begins in a village called “Adey Qita” located in Eritrea a small country in East Africa where the Coffee Queen was born. Saba (Sophia) Ghebreselassie was born on July 16, 1948 to an Eritrean High Priest. Saba's mother passed away shortly after Saba's birth. Saba was a very loving, creative, and exceptional cook. She was a God-fearing virtuous woman who had a passion for making fresh coffee for her father and siblings. Every Sunday, Saba would make coffee for her father after church services, this is after she had escorted him to and from church due to his failing eyesight. Later, Saba would marry Halekah Ghebremichael Habteghiorghis and they had six children. Of those six children, Saba taught her three daughters Lemlem, Yodit, and Selam how to roast, grind, and brew fresh coffee every Sunday for their traditional coffee ceremony. Today, we continue Saba's legacy by sharing her love of family and fresh coffee with you and your family. Saba Java is dedicated to providing fresh roasted coffee from all over the world. Saba Java is donating a portion of the proceeds to orphanages in Eritrea. Your purchase will not only provide you with the best coffee you've ever tasted, but will also help educate and provide life skills and training to orphan children in Eritrea.
